Housekeeping Invoice Template

A housekeeping invoice is a document used post-service by housekeepers, maids, janitors, and other cleaning professionals to request payment from their clients in an official manner. In addition to informing clients of the total balance owed, the invoice serves to communicate the service(s) that were rendered, the number of hours dedicated to each, any additional fees that accrued, the amount of time the client has to pay, and any notes on how the job went.

What Does a Housekeeper Do?

A housekeeper is an individual that is hired on a per-clean or schedule-basis for keeping a residential home, hotel, or office clean and in-order. This is accomplished by routine dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, and the completion of chores such as taking out the trash, doing laundry, washing dishes, collecting mail, and other services. A housekeeper and housecleaner may sound similar, but actually serve two (2) different roles. House”keepers” maintain the home and can complete non-cleaning errands and chores for their client. House”cleaners,” on the other hand, are strictly cleaners, often bringing their own cleaning supplies and conduct a more thorough cleaning of the establishment or home.

Types of Housekeeping Duties

The types of tasks and services a housekeeper carries out on a day-to-day basis can vary widely. The typical services a housekeeper offers their clients are the following:

  • Vacuuming
  • Sweeping
  • Dusting
  • Mopping
  • Cleaning windows
  • Making beds / organizing pillows
  • Washing + folding laundry
  • Running errands
  • Feeding animals
  • Taking out garbage
  • Completing chores/errands as requested by client

House Cleaning Checklist

A cleaning checklist provides professional cleaners with a means of ensuring all cleaning duties are completed for a given space or home. The best cleaning checklists are ordered in a way that makes logical sense. For example, cleaning tasks should be organized on a room-by-room basis to avoid having the housekeeper running from one corner of the house to the next. In addition to being organized by room type, checklist tasks should be arranged based upon the frequency in which tasks are completed. For example, making the beds is a daily task, whereas rugs may only need to be washed on a monthly basis.
