Flooring Installation Invoice Template
A flooring installation invoice is an electronically sent, mailed, or hand-delivered document that lists all the costs that went into a flooring install. Flooring installers can be freelancers, although are more commonly small business owners or are employees in larger construction companies. Flooring is priced on a square-foot basis, with different types requiring different prices based upon the cost of the materials as well as the labor required.
What Do Flooring Installation Contractors Do?
Flooring contractors (also called flooring “installers”) are responsible for laying down different types of flooring ranging from carpeting, wood, stone, vinyl, and more. Installers are typically full-time employees, as seasonal weather doesn’t have as large of an impact on their work in comparison to other construction-related services. Although flooring contractors do not require advanced education outside of a high school degree or GED, their work is highly skilled and requires knowledge in a wide variety of carpentry tools and concepts. The day-to-day duties required of flooring installers include:
- Removing older flooring and carpeting
- Determining the layout of new installations
- Installation of flooring materials & finishes
- Flooring trim, decorations, and other custom additions
- Working with contractors and other tradesmen
Cost of Flooring Materials + Installation
Most flooring service companies price flooring on a square foot basis. There are two large factors that determine the price of each type of flooring: material and installation cost. Other factors include if the previous flooring will need to be removed, the subfloor’s condition, the experience of the installer, and the area in which the install will be taking place. Types of flooring with exceptionally high material costs include exotic woods, mosaic tiles, luxury vinyl tile, and reclaimed hardwood, to name a few.
